ROME

WHERE TO STAY IN ROME: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the wonderfully located Hotel Quirinale which was walkable to everything we wanted to see. Choosing a walkable location to most attractions and the metro cuts out the expense of a rental car and taxis.

LUCCA

FREE ACTIVITY: This charming medieval city is surrounded by fortified walls that you can walk/run/bike. You get to take in the entire city from these high walls along the 4 km stroll that surrounds the old town for free.

NAPLES

FREE ACTIVITY: Do you know Rick Steves has free audio tours for tons of cities? It's the best to download them and share an earbud with your traveling partner so you can take it the sites and be on the same page.

Villefranche-sur-Mer

This town is the cutest and you can easily walk all the streets fairly quickly. COST SAVING TIP: walk up hill just a few blocks and you will pay a whole lot less for a beer in the shade then down at the waterfront!

PARIS

WHERE TO STAY IN PARIS: Once again we chose a location that would allow us to walk to most everything. Hotel D'Angleterre was ideal and came with a great breakfast, allowing us to meet and visit with other guests to swap information on the best things to do/places to eat. We highly recommend the humble restaurant across the street - incredible food! Au 35

GENOA

FOOD FUN: We had a blast on this food tour with Sabine in Genoa. It is a great way to learn about the local food. And she even gave us the history of the town and pointed out landmarks between restaurants and let us visit a church along the way. Best time ever! Genoa Do Eat Better Food Tour

NICE

INSIDER TIP: You can take an oceanside stroll from Villefranche-sur-Mer to Nice. It is only about 4 miles and boasts amazing views. We walked one way and ubered the other for only 10 euros. The taxis charge 40.

Aix-en-Provence

TRAVEL IN LUXURY FOR LESS:  From the port in Marseille you can try public transportation up to Aix-en-Provence, but if you only have a few hour port stop that could make you nervous to return on time. Instead we split a beautiful air conditioned uber with some new friends from the cruise and traveled in style. Only 25 euros when you split the cost!
